Leviticus 1:1 And He called Moses and spoke to him, did Adonai, from the tent of meeting, saying,
ויקרא (vayikra)
Leviticus 1:1-3 Adonai called Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘When a man among you brings an offering to Adonai, you shall bring your offering of livestock from the herd or from the flock. If his is an elevation offering from the cattle, he shall offer a male without blemish. He shall bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting, voluntarily, before Adonai.’”
ק-ר-ב (karav) = “to draw near”
קרבן (karbon) = “whole burnt offering”
“God deplores a sacrifice that is not an expression of coming close to Him.” – R’ Yitzchak Ginsburgh
Leviticus 1:9 “He shall wash the innards and its feet with water; and the priests shall cause it all to go up in smoke on the altar…”’
קרב (kerev)
Leviticus 1:2 “… When a man among you brings an offering to Adonai …”
מכם (mikem)
