Recent Lessons
This is the final parshah of the Torah and it has several unusual features that we shall look into. Being the last Torah portion, we shall consider some “last things” that it contains. One of the features that makes this portion so interesting is that it connects back around to the beginning of Genesis, forming a unified “circle” of Torah. This is no accident!

Genesis 49:28 … And this is what their father [Jacob] said to them as he blessed them, blessing each with the blessing suitable to him.
וזאת (vezot)
Deuteronomy 33:1 And this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the people of Israel before his death.
Deuteronomy 33:2 He said, “Adonai came from Sinai and dawned from Seir upon us. He shone forth from Mount Paran; He came from the ten thousands of holy ones, with flaming fire at His right hand.”
אשדת (aish-dat)
אש (eish) + דת (dat) = “fiery law”
