The book of Exodus contains the Hebrew word for “save” only two times. in fact, these are the first two times the word “save” is used in the Bible. Both instances involve Moses, but in two quite dissimilar scenarios. Come with us as we take a look at these two unique passages and see what we can learn about Messiah’s two comings.
ישע (yasha) = “save” (v.)
ישוע (yeshua) = “salvation” (n.)
Matthew 1:21 “She will bear a son, and you shall call His name Salvation, for He will save His people from their sins.”
:כִּי הוּא יוֹשִׁיעַ אֶת עַמּוֹ מֵחַטֹּאתֵיהֶם וְהִיא יֹלֶדֶת בֵּן וְקָרָאתָ אֶת שְׁמוֹ יֵשׁוּעַ
1st occurrence of ישע
Exodus 2:17 The shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses stood up and saved them and watered their flock.
2nd occurrence of ישע
Exodus 14:30 Thus Adonai saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.
