“Church” – The Most Misunderstood Word in the Bible (Part 1)
Our first discussion in this series deals with what I believe to be the most misunderstood word used in religious circles today. Most people think that the “church” is something that started in the New Testament. Some think that a ‘church’ is a building. I could fill this page listing the misunderstandings that people have about this confusing word – and it IS a confusing word! However, there was no such confusion in the original biblical languages of Hebrew and Greek. This two-part teaching will help clarify the concepts that have been clouded by the word C-H-U-R-C-H.
In this lesson we will answer the following questions:
In this episode, we will be introduced to some basic Greed and Hebrew words:

Acts 7:38 (KJV) This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us…
#1 – Genesis 28:3 “God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may become a kahal of peoples.”
#2 – Genesis 35:11 “And God said to him, ‘I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a kahal of nations shall come from you, and kings shall come from your own body.’”
#3 – Genesis 48:4 “…and said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will make of you a kahal of peoples and will give this land to your offspring after you for an everlasting possession.’”
Acts 19:28-32, 39-41 When they heard this they were enraged and were crying out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” So the city was filled with the confusion, and they rushed together into the theater, dragging with them Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians who were Paul’s companions in travel. But when Paul wished to go in among the crowd, the disciples would not let him. And even some of the Asiarchs, who were friends of his, sent to him and were urging him not to venture into the theater. Now some cried out one thing, some another, for the assembly was in confusion, and most of them did not know why they had come together… 39 But if you seek anything further, it shall be settled in the regular assembly.
