Hebrews 3:1  Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Yeshua, the apostle and high priest of our confession.

Apostle

 שלח (v.) (shalach)

שליח(n.) (shaliach)

αποστέλλω (v.) (apostello)

απόστολος (n.) (apostolos)

Genesis 3:22-23  Then Adonai God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out [shalach] his hand and take also of the Tree of Life and eat, and live forever…” Therefore, Adonai God sent [shalach] him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. [Also used of Noah sending out the raven and the dove. Genesis 8:9-10,12]

 Priest

 כהן (cohen)

ίερευς (hiereus)

Leviticus 16:32  And the priest who is anointed and consecrated to serve as priest [לכהן, l’cohein] in his father’s place …

2 Samuel 8:18  And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and David’s sons were priests[כהנים, cohanim].

APOSTLE      +     HIGH PRIEST

John 14:10 (Yeshua speaks as an apostle) + John 14:7-9 (Yeshua speaks as a priest)

John 14:7-9  “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.” Philip said to Him, “Master, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”  Yeshua said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know Me, Philip? Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”

John 14:10  “Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own authority, but the Father who dwells in Me does His works.”
